Fanfare: Shakespearean Music from Stratford
Fanfare is a tribute to the renowned Canadian composer Louis Applebaum
who died in April 2000. It features - of course! - the famous Stratford
fanfares. There are also new arrangements by Glenn Morley of Lou's most
beautiful songs and music - composed over his more-than-forty-year association
with the Stratford Festival. This music for soloists, orchestra and
choir was arranged, conducted and produced by Glenn Morley. The music
was recorded on July 5 and 6, 2000 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
With: Richard Margison, tenor, Christopher Plummer, The Elmer Iseler
Singers and: Craig Ashton, Juan Chioran, Colm Feore, Barbara Fulton,
Richard Monette, and Steve Ross from The Stratford Festival Company
Lou Applebaum was one of Canada's pre-eminent classical composers of
the last half century. He was the original Music Director of the Stratford
Festival, for whom he wrote scores for plays for almost every season
since it was founded in 1953. Catalog: MAR 269
