Marquis is saddened by the death of Siobhan McDonnell on September 2, 2005. She died after a courageous battle with cancer at the Kitchener Waterloo Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the young age of 44.

Siobhan McDonnell, born in Nova Scotia, received her training in Irish harp while attending school in Dublin, Ireland. After completing a BA in English/Music and an MA in Music Criticism, Siobhan worked for several years as a singer/actress and as a freelance Irish harpist. She recorded for CBC radio and was Irish harpist on Scott Macmillan's world premiere of his Celtic Mass for the Sea. Siobhan lived in Kitchener, Ontario, where she worked as a freelance harpist and also as a speech language pathologist.
