The members of Trio Lyra began their long and fruitful collaboration in 1978. Their repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the best of today's composers, many of whom have written especially for them.

SUZANNE SHULMAN, flute
Suzanne Shulman studied at the University of Toronto. She has given solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and Warsaw's Chopin Institute. As well as solo appearances in orchestral concerts, she has performed with the Orford and St. Lawrence String Quartets. She recorded with Glenn Gould and appears on the Classical Kids recordings. She has premiered works by John Weinzweig, Jean Coulthard, Christos Hatzis and Srul Irving Glick, among others. She currently performs with Valerie Tryon and the Festival of the Sound Ensemble, in addition to teaching at McMaster University.

MARK CHILDS, viola
Well-known to Canadian audiences as principal viola of the HamiltonPhilharmonic Orchestra from 1976 to 1988, Mark Childs was also artist-in-residence at McMaster University from 1978 to 1989. A graduate of the Curtis Institute, he has toured South America as principal viola of the McGill Chamber Orchestra, New Zealand with the McMaster String Quartet and Europe as principal viola of the Chamber Players of Toronto. In addition, he has appeared as soloist with orchestras in Canada, the USA and abroad, and is much in demand as a teacher of viola and violin.

ERICA GOODMAN, harp
A native of Toronto, Erica Goodman studied in Toronto, Interlochen and the Curtis Institute. She played under the baton of Stravinsky when he recorded in Toronto, and was a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra and with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. She is currently a member of Toronto's Esprit Orchestra. Her many recordings include the Juno-Award-winning Erica Goodman Plays Canadian Harp Music and Flute and Harp with Robert Aitken, which won the 1980 Grand Prix du Disque. In 1996, she won the Toronto NOW Magazine readers' poll for Best Canadian Classical Musician.
