Sergei Prokofiev / David Ward-Steinman
Music for Cello and Piano
Edgar Lustgarten - Cello
John Williams - Piano
The Sonata for Cello & Piano Op. 119 is one of Russia's greatest
works for cello, and one of Prokofiev's most popular late works. The
sonata is in three movements, the first and third expressing a calm,
lyrical mood; and the second, a youthful, carefree lightness.
Also featured is David Ward-Steinman's lyrical "Duo for Cello &
Piano", the chamber version of the "Concerto for Cello and
Orchestra".
