(Page 2) December 10, 2002 - Molly Johnson and her band performed for enthusiastic crowds in Toronto at First Canadian Place's Waterfall Stage. Molly sang several songs from her new CD Another Day. December 7, 2002 - Trumpet virtuoso Jens Lindemann received a great reception at Sam's Yonge Street store in Toronto on Saturday, performing music from his new CD, Flying Solo. The CD is available at record stores across Canada, and around the world through this web site. His many fans in Germany will be delighted to know that the CD will be in stores there in January, 2003.
November 22, 2002 - Jens Lindemann's new CD Flying Solo is delighting his friends and winning him new fans everywhere. On Friday, November 22 he celebrated with friends in New York City. Jens performed selections from his new CD at the home of Pamela Wallin, Canadian Consul General in New York. He was accompanied on the piano by Jennifer Snow and the legendary Tommy (Senator!) Banks, who flew in from Ottawa especially for the occasion.
November 21, 2002 - The Nathaniel Dett Chorale today celebrated the Canadian release of its new CD Listen to the Lambs: The Music of Nathaniel Dett with a party at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. The choir performed selections from this debut recording, which is already receiving a wonderful response from media. The CD is available at record stores across Canada, and around the world through this web site.
May 13, 2002 - Molly Johnson Records New Album
- Another Day will be in stores June 11 Acclaimed producer Craig Street (Cassandra Wilson, Susana Baca, Holly Cole) approached Molly after hearing songs from her debut album, and expressed his interest in working with her. Produced by Street and recorded and mixed by the legendary Kevin Killen (U2, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello), Another Day is a perfectly balanced mix of easy listening and jazz that is sure to satisfy Molly's fans and gain many new friends along the way. Recorded at Reaction Studios in Toronto this April, Another Day features contributions from Molly's stellar band and some very cool interpretations of "Summertime", "Ooh Child" and Marc Jordan's "I Must Have Left My Heart".
May 2, 2002 - Marquis today launched its expanded and re-designed web site. The site has been enhanced in many ways. On-line ordering is now secure. It's easier than ever to browse the catalog: New lists - by composer and catalogue number have been added. As before, there are sound samples with each CD, so you can listen (but not download) before you make your choices. What's new is "Radio Marquis": Play ten tracks from different Marquis CDs while you browse. One thing that won't change is our fast, reliable customer service. And we still ship our CDs around the world from Toronto. The site has a clean, dynamic new look. It was designed by Diana Galligan and Carol Moskot, and constructed by Diana Galligan and her team at Peppermill Media, working with Dinah Hoyle at Marquis.
March 26, 2002 - Molly Johnson, long recognized as one of Canada's great singers, has signed a multi-record agreement with Marquis. To celebrate this occasion, Marquis will re-release Molly's debut album "Molly Johnson". Originally released on June 15, 2000 through Oasis, this debut album has sold close to 13,000 CDs in Canada to date and has been unavailable at retail for sometime until now. The album's first two singles "My Oh My" and "Diamond In My Hand" have garnered more than 9,000 spins to date on radio in Canada. Today, "Diamond In My Hand' still continues to garner radio play and additional spins each week. Molly's next studio project will be released late May followed by an extensive cross-Canada tour.
February 11, 2002 - Wendy Nielsen's debut CD, "Forgotten Songs, Forgotten Loves" has been nominated for a Juno Award in the category "Best Classical Album - Vocal or Choral Performance". Praising this CD, the National Post says: "Nielsen has a big, rich voice, and a heart to match - which is just what this repertoire needs...". Wendy lives in New Brunswick with her family. She has an active performing career, appearing frequently at the Metropolitan Opera. This is the tenth Juno Nomination for Marquis. December 6, 2001 - The nominees for the 2002 East Coast Music Awards were announced today, and included on the list was Marquis artist Wendy Nielsen. Her debut CD, "Forgotten Songs, Forgotten Loves" was nominated as best "Classical Recording of the Year". The CD includes some of Wendy's favorite songs, with music by Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Zeminsky and Dohnanyi. Wendy is accompanied on this recital CD by pianist Robert Kortgaard.
