January 15, 2009 - Montreal jazz legend Oliver Jones will mentor Dione Taylor through the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards Mentorship Program. Read more. "I'm so happy to be able to work with Dione and offer what guidance I can to such a sparkling young talent," said Mr. Jones. "I feel honoured to have the chance to work with her and to perhaps play some small part in the growth of her career." Watch Dione sing "Hymn to Freedom".


January 20, 2009 - The Toronto-based Nathaniel Dett Chorale, founded in 1998 by Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, was Canada's gift to the American public at the presidential inauguration ceremonies of Barack Obama. The Canadian embassy invited the chorale - a 25-voice group committed to Afrocentric music from a variety of genres, including jazz, blues and gospel - to sing at the embassy both before and after the inaugural parade on January 20.
