March 13, 2006 - Marquis recently signed the very talented Quebec artist Térez Montcalm, and we were in Montreal at the Café du monument national on March 13 to host a launch party to introduce and celebrate her new CD - her first in English - Voodoo. Backed by her four-piece band, and surrounded by media, friends, and her co-producer Michel Cusson, Térez performed songs from the CD for an enthusiastic crowd.

September 28, 2005 - Governor Generals Award-winning author Charles Foran has written a new novel based on the life of 18th-century composer and harpist Terence Carolan (also called Turlough O'Carolan) entitled Carolans Farewell. September 27, 2005 - The fall concert season has begun. If you're in Toronto, don't miss Patricia O'Callaghan, who will open the cabaret-style series at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on Friday, October 14 at 8:30pm. On October 8, Alfie Zappacosta takes part in an international fundraising event. Voices for Hospices is a worldwide phenomenon: the worlds largest singing event takes place in churches, village halls, theatres, concert halls, pubs, clubs, schools and a host of other venues right across the globe! Alfie will perform at a fundraiser at the Winspear Centre in support of Edmonton's Pilgrims Hospice.
September 7, 2005 - Marquis is saddened by the death of Siobhan McDonnell on September 2, 2005. She died after a courageous battle with cancer at the Kitchener Waterloo Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the young age of 44.
May 7, 2005 - Strange things happen in Room 7 of "Nigredo Hotel". A stressed-out neuro-surgeon goes off the highway in his car and checks into a seedy hotel, deserted but for the bizarre woman who runs the place and seems to know more about him than he knows himself. Ann-Marie MacDonald's brilliant libretto accompanies Nic Gotham's jazz-inspired score on a transformative journey into the self. The current Toronto production of this 60-minute chamber opera features Patricia O'Callaghan as the mysterious and sexy innkeeper Sophie, and baritone Alexander Dobson as her enigmatic, troubled guest, Raymond. The award-winning production is being restaged in the beautifully unusual Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District in Toronto. From May 7-15.
January 6, 2005 - Molly Johnson will take part in the 2005 edition of CBC Radio's hugely popular program "Canada Reads". Molly has enthusiastically agreed to defend Leonard Cohen's Beautiful Losers. The "Canada Reads" debates will be broadcast nationally from February 21 to 25.

January 4, 2005 - Alfie Zappacosta, long known for his rich vocals and compelling lyrics has been nominated for two Smooth Jazz Awards. Zappacosta takes home nominations for "Male Artist of the Year" and "Album of the Year", for his new CD Start Again. The Inaugural Smooth Jazz Awards will take place at the Oakville Performing Centre of the Arts on April 10th 2005.
December 11, 2004 - Fans of Jillian Horton crowded into Brandon, Manitoba's Lady of the Lake to hear her perfom songs from her new self-titled CD, which has a growing number of fans across Canada. And hear Jillian on Monday, December 20 on CBC Radio's "Sounds Like Canada".
December 2, 2004 - Youkali Hotel, one-hour musical drama starring Marquis artist Patricia O'Callaghan, has been nominated for three Gemini Awards: Best Photography, Best Editing and best Art Direction.
December 1, 2004 - Winnipeg resident Jillian Horton has recently released her self-titled debut CD, a collection of songs such as Less of Me, a powerful coming of age ballad; Winnipeg, a bittersweet tale of love gone wrong; and Beautiful Ride, a gem of a love song. If you are lucky enough to live in Winnipeg, you can hear Jillian as she performs at Chapters in the Polo Festival mall on Sunday, December 5 at 12:00 noon.
